Live the life of a Berber on a 2-day desert safari to Zagora and the Draa Valley from Marrakech. Experience the shifting sand dunes
on the back of a camel, sleep under a canopy of stars, and follow in the footsteps of Hollywood royalty on a visit to the world heritage village of Ait Ben Haddou.

Day 1: Marrakech – Zagora

Following an early morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, drive across the High Atlas Mountains en route to Ouarzazate, where you will stop for lunch at your leisure. Continue to the oasis of Agdez, before driving through the date and palm trees of the Draa Valley. Marvel at the fortified Kasbahs along the way. Upon arrival at Zagora, meet your camel caravan and ride a camel over the sand dunes as you watch the sunset paint the desert sands. Then, transfer to your Sahara Desert camp just before dark. Settle into your private tent, and enjoy some free time to explore the surrounding desert scenery. Dinner will be served under the stars while your nomad hosts entertain you around a campfire with the beat of their tamtam drums.

Day 2: Zagora – Marrakech

Wake early to experience the magic of a desert sunrise (optional). Then, enjoy breakfast before climbing back into the saddle of your camel for the ride back to the main road. Here, your minibus will be waiting to take you on a scenic drive to the world heritage village of Ait Ben Haddou. Instantly recognizable as the setting of various Hollywood epics, it’s also a popular backdrop for photo shoots with international fashion magazines and agencies. Amazing experience in the Sahara – camel ride, berber music, stargazing and sleeping in a tent in the middle of the desert. Food was nice, they even provided gluten free options for me. Be aware – it’s a long ride in the van, but there are plenty of stops and opportunities to stretch your legs. Overall an unforgettable experience – would definitely recommend if you are in Morocco and only have a few days.

A truly unique and incredible experience! The drive from Marrakesh was long, but several stops along the way made the time and miles pass quickly. A camel ride to the Berber camp during sunset was unforgettable, and the camp itself is highly recommended.

Very nice journey to a desert camp, but would rather recommend the 3 day stay if you have enough time, if you are short on time(like me) this is a wonderful experience, Hassan, the driver was very nice to us and also Barak and Mustafa were wonderful hosts.

2 days out of time in the mountains and the desert of Zagora. We were only 8 in the van so it was great. The driver of the van is not a guide he only drives for 2 days. It would be wise to communicate more with him to explain to us the stages of the trip which change from the itinerary given upstream (day 1 Aït ben haddou and day 2 ouarzazate). The camp in the evening was impeccable, nothing to say. Very nice experience despite a lot of road.

A great overnight trip out of Marrakech and into the desert as well. A visit to Aït Benhaddou an incredible fortress out of the mud and rock and to this day still been used as a top location for movies. The overnight at the berber camp was amazing, a bit sore after getting there by camel but worth it. Lovely food, and there was traditional music and some dancing around a campfire well into the night and under the stars. Not to be missed. Shukran

Everyone was kind and helpful. The ride was quite long and exhausting but they had a few stops that made the trip more interesting. The quality of the facilities at the camp exceeded our expectations.

The experience is great. We went with Mohammed as a guide, and he is such a star. The trip itself has a lot of bus hours, but it’s expected when you check distances in Maps. Couple of things to bare in mind: – when you stop in Aït Ben Haddou they will recommend you to buy a turbant. It’s true that you’ll need one, but the shop there is the most expensive u’ll ever find. Wait to sneakily buy it inside the fort (they rush u to not check shops there) or buy it in the city before the tour. For a normal one they’ll ask 130DH, and u can normally have it for 50DH. Make sure it’s long enough for the turbant! – There is breakfast + lunch + lunch missing. Each lunch is 110DH, and breakfast up to you, but I’d prepare at least 300DH for that (try to bring cash, sometimes card doesn’t work, and definetely not contactless). The experience is great and I recommend it 100%!

A great experience in the desert. The very traditional and warm Berber camp. A colorful welcome by the Berber people. A great experience to share as a couple or with friends. Small special mention for our driver MOHAMED who knew how to make us discover his country, its mountains, its customs, their crafts and make us travel throughout the atlas.

The problem with this trip was our “guide” was basically a driver. We were told that we would have an English speaking guide and instead we had a driver who could not speak English and therefore could not answer our questions or explain any of the history of where we were driving. The drive was beautiful – the Altlas Mountains were amazing and our night in the desert was good fun.

Really recommended. Me and my two teenagers went to the Zagora desert for two days, there were lots of stops where you see a lot and learn a lot. It’s a lot of driving and long days. Fantastic with the evening, riding in the desert, dinner and bonfire with music. Nice driver and everyone at the camp was great! Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of something unique!

The trip was great and an awesome experience! Especially our driver Moustafa made sure we had a great time and always took care of our needs. He drove very safely and was very kind, funny and communicated openly. He also made sure to stop at great landmarks which gave us some delightful views of the mountains and the moroccan countryside. The camel trip was also a nice experience and the camp was beautiful with clean facilities and good food. The ride back was, again thanks to Moustafa, very pleasant, and we ended up happy and safe at our hotel.

Our tour was with Hisham, he was the best guide of our entire Morocco trip. He took good care of us and we had great fun with him on the long car ride and also in the evening stargazing.

We have loved the experience. A 10 for the guide who was aware of us all the time, livening up the trip and giving us the best advice. The only thing you have to know is that the round trip takes many hours, the one way is more enjoyable because you make many stops but the return is tiresome. Also know that the desert is not as it appears in the photos, it has hardly any dunes. Even so, I repeat, the experience is a 10, the abundant food and the conditions and people of the exceptional camp. highly recommended!

We selected English as the language option but most of the the other tour members are French speaker, so one regret is that we did not fully explained the details (French is prioritized). Beside that, it is well organized your, and all the guides and camp staffs are kind and cheerful. Thank you so much.

Our experience was amazing. The Zagora Desert is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. People related to the contracted company are very friendly, attentive and cordial. The highlight is the guide who accompanied us on this tour. Hamid Laalam is a local guide and he showed us all the wonders on the way from Marrakech until we finally reached the desert and on the way back, we had a great trip. He is polite and very attentive, including with our children, as we were a family. We strongly recommend it, as it is certainly an experience to be repeated. Thank you for everything!!!

Good excursion if you only have 2 days. The transfer is a bit long but it’s worth it, discovering wonderful views and making some panoramic stops. You enter the desert by camel, seeing both sunrise and sunset. Overnight in the tent. Excellent dinner and good breakfast. I loved it all

We booked this excursion the day before. Everything went as described. And it was an eventful day. It even took 2 hours longer than stated. The only thing we would have liked would have been a little more communication from the driver and guide. Here you had to ask first to find out something, otherwise very polite. We can only recommend it!

My friends and I went last February to Marrakesh and doing this activity was such a good decision of ours. Throughout the 2 days, we stopped in two restaurants to have lunch, which we had to pay and also the alcohol in the camp, other than that, transportation, dinner and breakfast all included. Beautiful landscapes and unique experience. Definitely worth it.

Absolutely stunning! If you are in Marrakech you have to do this tour. We just saw so much in these 2 days – from the Atlas mountains, Aït-Ben-Haddou, the oasis, the Sahara, our camp with the camels. This was just amazing we did as many stops as we could & we were a small group of 6 people. Our guide Mohammed was just great, he explained and learned so much to us – I will probably never forget that again.

Well-rounded experience for two days! While there was a lot of driving, our driver was really nice, the van was comfortable, and we we had a lot of stops and bathroom breaks. We got to see various sites all around Morocco and the overnight campsite was in excellent condition. Highlight was the camel experience! My only note would be to bring lots of cash because I there are multiple guides along the tour who expect tips.

I’m currently in Morocco and was recommended this excursion. I wasn’t disappointed with the recommendation. I was taken from my hotel into the desert, i was met with camels and keepers. The atmosphere was amazing, food was very good and seeing the night sky was something I will never forget! Big thanks to you .

you have to know it’s a long drive but it’s totally worth it we stopped in atlas mountains to appreciate the beauty of it. make sure to take power banks as you will take plenty of pics and videos. the camel rirde and the camp gave us amazing experoence even though we wished it was a little bit of water to at least brush teeth. anyway it all made it special. the starts the music food everything was just amaizng. the only not such a nice thing that happened during the trip: we were young people starving so when the food arrived we got real excited and the guy made not a nice comment being like ‘don’t you have food in your country??’ instead of appreciate the fact we were so excited to eat and that it looked delicious… idk. all table was left quite disguised after that.

We really enjoyed everything. The food was great, everyone was so nice and kind, the place itself was super comfortable (bedrooms and outside) and so pretty. We encountered different guides and every single one of them were helpful and funny, which made the trip even better. The only thing we found to be not so good was the 7hour trip. The minibus was great, the seats were comfortable and the drive was safe, its just a long drive and you might get a bit tired but the driver stops each 1-2h and gives 10/15min breaks. Overall, everything was really great and it was such an amazing experience. Definitely recommend!!

It was a wonderful experience… It completely exceeded our expectations; starting with the kindness of our driver Mohamed Tinghir and all the staff. The road is complicated (many curves) but with an anti-sickness pill it is solved. The stop to eat on the way there has been somewhat disappointing, because the food was expensive and of poor quality, but once in the camp things were incredible.

It is really great experience, driver pick up us at hotel, drive all the way to Zagaro, the mountains, the palm trees, the local villages. The camel ride under subside is great as well. Down side is that there are two stops are totally unnecessary, the studio visit and oil shop, it is not interesting, I strongly suggest to remove the two places from tour but just let us walk around in the city pass by is better!

An incredible experience, difficult to tell in words. So many hours by bus, seem almost endless, but once you arrive in the desert you forget them completely. On the way several stops, visited Ouarzazate (the restaurant where they took us rejected, € 10 for a couscous, a theft) and then head into the desert. Camel ride of about an hour, arrival in tents, tea dinner and entertainment around the campfire with Berber music played by locals. Two Berber boys took us to see the stars lying on the sand and under the covers, we saw many shooting stars, unique emotions. The next day we saw the sunrise on the camels returning to the bus. Visited ait ben haddou and returned to Marrakech around 18.30/19

Everything was perfect, to the driver to the host at the camp. The road was beautiful, the car comfortable, we listened to our music and saw the mountains, the small towns, it was the kind of landscape you saw on the Internet ! Everyone was generous, friendly. We played music with everyone, we ride a camel and we looked at the stars (with fallen stars!!). You need to get this trip! You will not regret it !

If you have 1 day to spend on a trip around marrakech, then this is perfect! You can ride on a camel for about 40 minutes, walk through several berber villages and besides waterfalls and mountains. The friendly guide (He is the best) will lead the way and tell you some facts about the villages and culture. Also he will take you to a place where they make you some delicious berberfood. All in all, it’s a perfect day out around Marrakech!
